Video Marketing for Solar Companies: A Case Study in Brand Clarity
When a solar company is scaling fast and acquiring new businesses, the biggest challenge isn’t just expansion—it’s alignment. NewGen Energy, a California-based solar provider, came to us in the middle of a big growth push. They had just acquired new companies and needed to define who they were becoming, not just what they did.
What started as a corporate video project for NewGen quickly evolved—because soon after the shoot, they rebranded to MARS Energy.
The Goal: One Cohesive Story
Kasey Bruce Media’s team was tasked to create a series of videos that would:
Introduce their acquired brands and explain how they all fit together
Establish a consistent, professional brand identity
Highlight company culture and the real people behind the work
Position them as a top solar company in California
All without access to their actual fieldwork or installation projects.
Our Approach
This was a 3-day shoot at their Sacramento HQ with a lean, two-person team. We focused on what we could access—interviews with top talent, leadership, and department heads—and captured b-roll that showcased the personality of the team and their sleek new office space.
Here’s what we delivered:
A high-level Brand Video introducing their mission statement and identity
A focused MARS Energy video tailored to the rebrand
A Solara Energy video (one of their newly acquired sub-brands)
A full batch of short-form content for social media, cut from the long-form footage
We leaned into clean, corporate visuals and strong messaging to make up for the lack of on-site install footage. Interviews were structured but conversational, giving us polished soundbites that still felt human.
The Curveball: A Rebrand Midway Through
The rebrand from NewGen Energy to MARS Energy happened after we wrapped production…which meant some of the original content became outdated almost immediately.
Luckily, our modular approach to filming made it easy to repurpose content. We were able to edit and retitle footage to align with the new brand, and the social cuts continued to perform well for their marketing team as they rolled out MARS across platforms.
💡 Final Thoughts
This project is a solid example of how green energy video production isn’t always about flashy solar panel installs. It’s about telling the story behind the brand. Even with limited access to field footage, we helped this growing company establish a visual identity, explain its evolving structure, and create a content foundation they could continue to build on.
