Video editing FAQs
-
Editing-only projects with KBM (when you supply the raw footage) start at $2,500 and can run to $50,000+, depending on footage volume, number of deliverables, and complexity. A single short-form edit from a small footage batch sits at the lower end; a large project with hours of raw footage, multiple final cuts, motion graphics, or a full campaign's worth of deliverables from one shoot moves toward the higher end.
-
Editing-only work skips filming but still runs through a defined process: footage review and organization, an edit plan (structure, key moments, deliverable specs), the edit itself, and revision rounds. Turnaround typically runs 1-3 weeks depending on footage volume and number of deliverables, though tighter timelines are possible if the footage is well-organized going in. The biggest timeline variable isn't the edit itself — it's how much footage there is to sort through before editing can start.

Plenty of teams end up with hours of raw footage sitting on a hard drive because they have the shoot but not the editing bandwidth or skill to turn it into something usable. Editing-only service solves that gap — it takes footage you already have (from an internal shoot, a past production, or another crew) and turns it into content that's actually structured for retention and built for the platform it's going to run on, instead of a long, unedited clip nobody watches to the end.
-
A lot of editors will cut what you hand them; KBM edits with strategy in mind — retention, pacing, and platform-specific formatting — even when we didn't shoot the footage ourselves. That means asking the right questions upfront (what's this for, where's it running, what's the goal) rather than treating it as a technical cut-and-paste job.
-
This service fits teams that already have raw footage — from an in-house shoot, a past production, drone footage, or another production company — but don't have the internal editing skill, software, or time to turn it into finished content. It's also a fit for brands sitting on a backlog of unedited footage from past events or shoots that could still be turned into usable content.

The main drivers are footage volume (an hour of raw footage takes longer to sort and cut than 15 minutes), number of final deliverables, and complexity of the edit (simple cut-down vs. motion graphics, color grading, or sound design). Footage organization matters too — well-labeled, easy-to-navigate raw files cost less to edit than a disorganized dump. A quick look at the raw footage is usually enough to give an accurate quote.
