A Case Study with Alexander Valley Vineyards

When Alexander Valley Vineyards, a renowned, family-owned winery in Northern California, set out to create their very first brand video, they knew it needed to reflect more than just beautiful landscapes. It had to tell the story of their multi-generational legacy, sustainable practices, and the deep-rooted history of the land. They also needed a professional-quality video they could confidently use at trade shows and in digital marketing without coming across as lofty or overly polished.

That’s where Kasey Bruce Media stepped in.

The Challenge:

  • Although Alexander Valley Vineyards had never produced a video before, they knew it was time to elevate their marketing efforts - especially for B2B sales and trade events. Their goals were twofold:

    • Tell the authentic story of their family’s winemaking legacy.

    • Create engaging visual content that showcases their vineyard experience and products in a down-to-earth, approachable way.

    All of this had to be done efficiently, with minimal disruption to their busy daily operations of producing, bottling, and selling wine on-site.

Our Strategy:

  • To produce this, we approached this Napa Valley video production project with a clear and efficient plan. Our team spent one full day capturing:

    • Interviews with key managers and the Head of Operations.

    • Scenic b-roll of iconic property features: gardens, the on-site zoo, cemetery, and walking tour experiences.

    • Wine tasting and product shots, including a special shoot inside their dramatic cellar cave.;

  • With a tight timeline, strategic planning was essential. We pre-scripted the narrative using guided interview questions that allowed each speaker to share genuine insights, helping the story unfold naturally and authentically on camera.

execution:

This was a lean but expert crew which consisted of:

  • A lighting specialist and Steadicam operator

  • A sound technician and assistant videographer

  • Kasey Bruce as Director + Director of Photography

We used a variety of cinematic lenses—including the vintage Helios 44-2, which gave the footage a unique, artful texture. Aerial drone shots brought a sweeping perspective to the final edit, and we collaborated with a professional colorist to ensure the tones were rich, warm, and true to the vineyard’s character.

A standout moment? Filming inside the cellar cave, where we had limited gear but managed to create a commercial-grade product sequence using just two lights. The client was blown away by the quality—and so were we.

final results:

The finished brand story video captured everything the client had hoped for: history, beauty, and an unmistakable sense of place. It’s now used to promote their products at industry events and online, serving as a powerful e-commerce video marketing tool that reflects who they truly are.
